DDC Approved Delhi Special Task Force for Women Safety

Constituted by the DDC, The Special Task Force in Delhi has been given the task of making plans to improve women safety within buses and other places. has set up a task force on the issue of safety of women traveling in all public transport including buses, metro, auto-taxis, which will review the government’s existing schemes and also submit new suggestions to the government.

According to Delhi’s transport minister Kailash Gehlot, Provision will be made for easy registration of women sexual harassment crimes in at buses, Metros and other public places in Delhi.

Delhi’s Lt. Governor has directed the Chief Secretary to constitute a special task force for women safety in Delhi’s public transport vehicle headed by Additional Chief Secretary (Home). The task force will include representatives of Delhi Police, Social Welfare Department, Women and Child Development Department, Higher Education Department, University of Delhi and Municipal Corporations. The task force will have to conduct security audits.

DDC Vice Chairman Jasmin Shah said that the safety of women and girls is our responsibility. It needs to be given special priority. He instructed to take the cases of women and child sexual harassment seriously and ensure prompt and effective action on them!
