Drone Attack on Saudi Oil Processing Company Saudi Aramco, Howthi took Responsibility

Iran-backed Yemeni Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for the drone attack on Saudi Aramco’s oil plant, one of the world’s largest oil companies. Saudi’s Home Minister gave this information on Saturday. Saudi Arabia has been targeted with drone and missile attacks by Houthi rebels over the years. The Aramco plant has been a target of terrorists over the years. In February 2006, Al Qaeda attempted a suicide attack on the oil company, which was thwarted.

The attack took place at four in the morning
Aramco’s Abqac and Khuraish facility centers in eastern Saudi Arabia were attacked by drones around 4 am on Saturday. After the attack, a balloon of black smoke was seen rising from both the plants. The Saudi press agency quoted the Interior Ministry as saying, “The company’s industrial security teams were immediately engaged in extinguishing the fire at Aramco’s Abacac and Khuraish facility centers due to the drone attack.” The fire has been controlled at both places.
Saudi’s energy minister said that due to this precautionary measure, the country’s total oil production has halved. The attacks have affected the production of 5.7 million barrels of crude oil per day.

Aramco CEO Amin Naseer said that the company is trying to start oil supply at the earliest. Naseer said that the employees working in the refineries are safe.

America blamed Iran for these attacks

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blamed Iran for these attacks on Aramco. Pompeo said Iran has attacked the world’s energy needs. Earlier, Saudi Arabia has also accused Iran of arming the Houthi rebels. On Saturday itself, Houthi rebels claimed that they used 10 drones to attack Aramco.
