In extra time, the winner could not be determined either.

As a result, in the penalty shootout the Spaniard Morata failed to convert the penalty, the meeting ended with a score of 4: 2 in favor of the Italian national team.

Italy will fight in the final on Sunday for their first title since the 2006 World Cup in Germany. The opponent is then the winner from the second semi-final between England and Denmark. Italy coach Roberto Mancini had to do without one of his best players to date. Leonardo Spinazzola had torn his Achilles tendon in the quarter-finals against Belgium (2-1), and Emerson moved into the starting line-up for the seriously injured left-back.

Italy continued against Spain where they left off against Belgium. The team started with pressure and immediately looked for the way on the offensive. It took the Spaniards a few minutes to adjust to this and then they were unimpressed. Thanks to their ball safety and the precise short passing game, they gained the upper hand in midfield.

Pedri played a perfect pass in the 13th minute to Mikel Oyarzabal. The striker appeared free in front of Italy’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma but tripped the ball. Eleven minutes later, the keeper defused a dangerous shot by Dani Olmo from eleven meters. Spain impressed the Italians at this stage.
