New Delhi, December 16, 2024: The Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, attended the prestigious ‘At Home’ reception hosted at the Army House in New Delhi on the eve of Vijay Diwas. The event, held annually to honor the valor and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces, was attended by senior military officials, veterans, dignitaries, and other distinguished guests.
Vijay Diwas, observed on December 16 each year, marks India’s decisive victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, leading to the creation of Bangladesh. This occasion serves as a tribute to the indomitable spirit and bravery of the soldiers who laid down their lives for the country.

President Murmu’s Address: In her address at the reception, President Murmu paid heartfelt tribute to the soldiers and veterans, acknowledging their unwavering commitment and sacrifices for the nation. She said, “The courage and dedication of our armed forces inspire every Indian. Vijay Diwas reminds us of their heroism and selflessness, which paved the way for peace and justice. Today, we stand in gratitude to honor their legacy.”
The President also emphasized the need to support the families of martyrs and veterans, recognizing their role in strengthening the nation’s morale. She lauded the Indian Armed Forces for their preparedness and contribution to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty.
