His two-day official visit underscores the strengthening bonds between India and Qatar, marking his second visit to the nation since assuming office in 2014.

Upon arrival, Prime Minister Modi was warmly greeted by Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, signaling the importance of the diplomatic engagement.

During his stay, Prime Minister Modi engaged in high-level discussions with Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. Their meeting focused on enhancing the longstanding friendship between India and Qatar, exploring avenues for further cooperation in various sectors.

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to meet with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to delve into bilateral relations and discuss pertinent regional and global issues, reaffirming India’s commitment to fostering constructive dialogues.

The timing of Prime Minister Modi’s visit holds significant importance, coinciding with Qatar’s recent decision to commute the death sentences of eight former Indian sailors, who were imprisoned on espionage charges. This development underscores the positive outcomes of diplomatic efforts between the two nations.

The Prime Minister’s reception by the Indian diaspora in Qatar further emphasizes the strong cultural ties between the two countries, as enthusiastic well-wishers gathered outside his hotel in Doha, extending warm greetings and gestures of goodwill.
