Canada Desk, Delhi Magazine: Amid a wave of ongoing demonstrations across North American universities, pro-Palestinian protesters have extended their presence to two additional campuses in British Columbia, Canada.

The University of Victoria confirmed on Wednesday the establishment of a protest site on its campus, located in the quad area. The university stressed a calm and thoughtful approach to minimize disruptions caused by the encampment, highlighting their commitment to fostering respectful and academic discussions on current issues without tolerance for discrimination, harassment, or hate speech.

As a precautionary measure, campus security is monitoring access to nearby buildings and requesting information from individuals entering these areas.

Images circulating on social media depict tents adorned with Palestinian flags and signs bearing various slogans, with security officers observed overseeing the demonstrators in some photographs.

Similarly, Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo confirmed the presence of a campsite on its campus. The university is actively monitoring the situation and maintaining communication with local law enforcement.

Meanwhile, at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, a protest encampment has entered its third day, with demonstrators preparing for a prolonged stay by stocking up on essential supplies like food and water.

Meanwhile, the McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill University announced its fourth cohort of recipients on April 30th. This scholarship program, made possible by a landmark $200 million donation in 2019 from John and Marcy McCall MacBain, supports exceptional students pursuing master’s or professional degrees at McGill.

Thirty scholars from 11 countries and 25 universities have been selected to participate in this program, which includes mentorship, coaching, and a leadership development curriculum. The scholarship covers tuition and fees, living costs, a relocation grant, and summer funding options.
