The Princess of Wales rode in an open carriage with her husband, Prince William, Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. But Kate’s bright scarlet dress definitely overshadowed the outfits of all the other ladies from the royal family.
Royal Ascot, one of the events that Queen Elizabeth II loved the most, given her fascination with the equestrian art. Every year, the monarch made a point of attending the competition in order to watch the horse races.
For her spectacular appearance at Royal Ascot 2023, Kate Middleton opted for a light dress from Alexander McQueen and a dainty hat from famous hatter Philip Tracy in a matching shade.
Previously, Kate chose dresses in more pastel and muted shades for the Ascot races, but this year she decided to break the rules and opted for a scarlet outfit. Previously, Queen Elizabeth usually appeared in such bright dresses at Ascot, who joked that if she put on a less conspicuous color, then no one would recognize her.
This is the first time William and Kate have attended the event since the Queen’s death last September. In 2023, the horse races paid tribute to the late Queen by holding an exhibition of her photographs and calling her “Royal Ascot’s biggest fan”.
During her 70-year reign, Her Majesty has visited almost every Royal Ascot, with the exception of last year, when she was unable to attend due to health problems.
Earlier the races were visited by Princess Anne, Princess Beatrice, Mike and Zara Tindall, Prince Edward and his wife, the Duchess of Edinburgh Sophie. The king’s cousins, the Earl of Snowdon and Sarah Chatto, also joined the royal procession yesterday.
