National-Level Hackathon Kicks Off at GIET Sonipat with Grand Opening Ceremony

NCR Desk, Delhi Magazine: The National-Level Hackathon at Gateway Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET), Sonipat, officially commenced today with a vibrant and energetic opening ceremony, setting the tone for what promises to be a transformative experience for young innovators from across India. A total of 73 selected teams from various states have gathered at the Gateway Education Campus to compete, collaborate, and showcase their creativity in solving real-world challenges.

The morning began with registration and check-in of all participants, followed by the formal inauguration of the event. The ceremony opened with a heartfelt welcome address by Dr. Vinay Singhal, Principal of GIET Sonipat, who emphasized the importance of experiential learning in today’s dynamic educational landscape. “This hackathon is a step toward empowering students to tackle the problems of tomorrow. It’s a celebration of thinking differently, working together, and building boldly,” he said.

Following the principal’s address, Prof. Abhayjeet Singh, Co-Founder and Chief Academic Officer at ImaginXP, delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging students to embrace creativity and user-centered design in their problem-solving approach. He highlighted the significance of such platforms in shaping the future of digital product innovation and academic-industry synergy.

Mr. Piyush Prashad, Head of Education Research and Training at the I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC), IIT Delhi, took the stage as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, he reflected on the evolving role of technology in building sustainable and inclusive solutions for India’s future. “Hackathons are breeding grounds for disruptive ideas. What starts here could very well change the world outside,” he remarked.

The inaugural session concluded with a gracious vote of thanks by Dr. Colonel A.K. Garg, Director of Gateway Education, who acknowledged the efforts of students, mentors, guests, and the organizing committee. “Gateway has always aimed to be more than just an educational institution—we are a launchpad for innovation. I am proud to see our campus hosting such a powerful exchange of talent and ideas,” he said.

Adding a vibrant cultural touch to the proceedings, students of Gateway Education performed a traditional dance that was warmly received by participants and guests alike, reflecting the institution’s commitment to both cultural and technical excellence.

Following the ceremony, participants moved into their ideation phase, with teams diving into brainstorming sessions and refining their project ideas. Multiple rooms across the campus were designated as coding zones, where mentors from academia and industry began guiding students on technology, approach, and execution strategies. The buzz of discussions, whiteboard sketches, and keyboard clicks filled the atmosphere with a sense of purpose and passion.

As the competition gains momentum, GIET Sonipat has transformed into a hub of innovation, where imagination meets mentorship and learning takes the front seat. The hackathon will continue in the coming days with intense development rounds, expert interactions, and eventual presentations that will bring students’ ideas to life.
