Born on July 2, 1983, in Hassan, Karnataka, Suhas grew up in a supportive family that encouraged his ambitions despite his ankle impairment.
Family Background and Education Suhas comes from a middle-class family, with his father, Yathiraj L K, being a retired government official, and his mother, Jayashree C S, a homemaker. He completed his schooling at Lions High School in Hassan and pursued his engineering degree in Computer Science from the National Institute of Technology, Surathkal.
Career and Achievements
After completing his engineering degree, Suhas set his sights on the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), one of the most prestigious careers in India. He cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination on his first attempt, an achievement that reflects his dedication and intellectual prowess. Suhas began his career as an IAS officer, serving in various capacities across Uttar Pradesh, where he made significant contributions to public administration. As of January 2023, he is working as the Secretary and Director General of Youth Welfare and Provincial Guard Force of the State Government. His administrative career is marked by numerous accolades, including the Yash Bharti Award, the highest civilian honor in Uttar Pradesh, and various recognitions for his exceptional work in administration.
Despite his demanding career, Suhas never let go of his passion for badminton. He trained rigorously and achieved remarkable success in para-badminton, winning numerous medals at international championships. His notable achievements include a gold medal at the Asian Para-Badminton Championships in 2016 and a silver medal at the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021.
