Michael Douglas Recognised for His Work for Peace The award recognised Michael Douglas for his longstanding humanitarian work and contribution to peace. He has served as a United Nations Messenger of Peace since 1998 and has been actively involved in raising awareness about nuclear disarmament. Tibet House US established the Art of Freedom Award in 1998 to recognise individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the Tibetan cause and the preservation of Tibetan culture. The 2026 gala also recognised Tibet House US founders Birgitte Nena Thurman and Robert A.F. Thurman for their contributions. Robert Thurman’s award was presented posthumously. A Special Family Appearance Michael shares Dylan, 26, and Carys, 23, with his wife, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones. Both children have shown an interest in the entertainment industry and have pursued their own creative interests.
