Crime Desk, Delhi Magazine: In a disturbing incident reported from Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh, police have apprehended a 32-year-old cleric accused of sexually assaulting a 22-year-old girl and recording objectionable videos of her. The arrest was confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vivek Chandra Yadav of the Rural Area on Saturday.
According to the complaint filed in the case, the victim used to visit the residence of Maulvi Jabbar in the Mussoorie police station area for studies approximately two years ago. During these visits, the Maulvi allegedly subjected her to sexual assault and recorded illicit videos of the assault.
The DCP elaborated that following the assault, the cleric continuously threatened and abused the victim, coercing her into maintaining physical relations by threatening to publicly expose the incriminating video. Recently, the video surfaced within the village community, prompting concerned locals to inform the victim’s parents about the distressing development.
In response, an FIR was promptly lodged against the Maulvi, leading to his arrest. Police have confiscated the Maulvi’s mobile phone and initiated a medical examination of the victim as part of the investigation.
The accused Maulvi has been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 376 (rape), 328 (administering a drug to commit an offense), and 506 (criminal intimidation). DCP Yadav assured that authorities are actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend individuals responsible for disseminating the illicit video.
