New Delhi: A special screening of the film “Godhra,” based on the 2002 Godhra riots, was held on Monday at PVR Plaza in Connaught Place, New Delhi. The film features Ranveer Shorey, Manoj Joshi, and Hitu Kanodia in the lead roles.
Directed by MK Shivaksh, “Godhra” is set to be released on July 19. The director, producer, and actors attended the special screening, where attendees paid tribute to the kar sevaks who lost their lives in the Godhra incident. Here is the trailer of this movie by Zee.
The film’s producer, BJ Purohit, director MK Shivaksh, and actress Denisha Ghumra were present at the event. Director MK Shivaksh stated that the film aims to present the facts directly to the public. “We have made this film based on the information gathered during four years of research,” Shivaksh said.
Producer BJ Purohit commented on the significance of the film, stating, “People know the Godhra incident as the Hindu-Muslim riots of 2002. What was Godhra before this? What is the truth suppressed under the Gujarat riots? What kind of mentality was behind this, and what is the hidden truth of the Godhra incident? Why was the pain of the 59 people killed in this incident not allowed to reach the public? The film answers these questions.”
The film portrays the tragic event of February 27, 2002, when 59 kar sevaks were burned alive in the S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express near the Godhra railway station. Among the victims were 10 children and 27 women. Viewer S Rahul, who attended the screening, shared his thoughts, saying, “The film vividly depicts the real-life incident and the victims’ journey for justice. The Godhra riots were a major conspiracy aimed at defaming the then-Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s state government.”
“Godhra” promises to provide a gripping and fact-based portrayal of one of the most controversial and tragic events in recent Indian history. The film will be released nationwide on July 19.
