PM Modi inaugurates ICC Convention Center – to be Known as ‘Bharat Mandapam’

Delhi Desk, Delhi Magazine: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new convention center built at Pragati Maidan in the capital Delhi on Wednesday. This new ITPO complex has been named ‘Bharat Mandapam’. This IECC center has been built at a cost of 2700 crores. Earlier, he offered prayers with Vedic chanting in the campus this morning. After offering prayers, the Prime Minister met and posed for photographs with the workers who contributed to the redevelopment of the complex. The Prime Minister inaugurated it after reaching the campus in the evening. The new complex has been named ‘Bharat Mandapam’.

 

According to officials, the complex is based on the Prime Minister’s vision of world-class infrastructure to host international meetings, conferences and exhibitions in the country. The project has been developed at a cost of about Rs 2,700 crore. Spread over an area of about 123 acres, this complex has been developed as the largest meeting, convention and exhibition center in the country.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister released two commemorative coins and two postage stamps on the G-20 meetings being chaired by India. The complex is one of the top exhibition and convention centers in the world in terms of the space available for events. It includes several state-of-the-art facilities including a convention centre, exhibition halls and an amphitheater.

This convention center has been developed as the central point of the Pragati Maidan complex. The complex has a combined capacity of 7,000 for the Multi-Purpose Hall and the Plenary Hall, which is more than the Sydney Opera House in Australia. Its magnificent amphitheater has seating for 3,000 people.
