Election Desk, Delhi Magazine: In preparation for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections scheduled for October 5, 2024, the Election Commission has implemented strict measures to ensure a smooth and fair electoral process. One such key measure is the closure of all liquor shops in Haryana from 6 PM on October 3 until the end of polling on October 5. This step is aimed at preventing any disruptions and promoting a safe environment for the elections.
Ban on Liquor Sales for Election Safety
The administration has reinforced its commitment to complying with Election Commission guidelines by banning the sale of liquor 48 hours prior to polling. This ban will also extend to October 8, the day of vote counting, during which liquor shops will remain closed across the state. The primary goal of these restrictions is to allow voters to exercise their franchise freely, without any external influence or disturbances.
Authorities have requested all citizens to respect the ban and cooperate with the administration to maintain order during the elections. The impact of these restrictions will not only be felt in Haryana but also in some districts of Delhi-NCR and neighboring states.
Restrictions to Extend Beyond Haryana
Due to Haryana’s proximity to other states, the liquor sale ban will also affect certain districts in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR. The six impacted districts in Uttar Pradesh include Gautam Buddha Nagar, Saharanpur, Shamli, Baghpat, Aligarh, and Mathura.
Congress’s Election Strategy Under Scrutiny
Amidst these preparations, reports have surfaced suggesting that some Congress party workers in Haryana are allegedly distributing liquor bottles to their close associates to garner votes. These allegations, if proven true, could lead to strict action from the Election Commission, which has emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the election process.
As the election date approaches, political parties are intensifying their campaigns, while authorities are focused on ensuring a peaceful and disturbance-free election day.
Recent Updates in Delhi include an incident affecting the city’s metro services and a scheduled water disruption.
