Very soon, the logos of each of the 16 cities in the US, Canada and Mexico, in the arenas of which the football players will play, will also be presented.
In March, at the Congress in Africa, FIFA approved a new format for the 2026 World Cup. For the first time, 48 teams will take part in it. They will be divided into 12 groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each group and the eight best teams from third place will advance to the 1/16 finals. In total, the teams will play 104 matches. The World Cup final will be played on July 19, 2026.
Argentina is the reigning World Cup champion . In the decisive match of the World Cup, which was held in Qatar in 2022, Albiceleste defeated the French team. Argentine star forward Lionel Messi was named the best player of the championship.
