New Delhi, May 19, 2024 — Political tensions have intensified following the arrest of Bibhav Kumar, personal assistant to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in connection with the assault on a common man and Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal at Kejriwal’s residence. In response, CM Kejriwal announced a protest march to the BJP headquarters on Sunday, accompanied by senior AAP leaders.

During a press conference on Saturday, Kejriwal condemned Kumar’s arrest, alleging a systematic campaign of targeted arrests against AAP leaders. “They are imprisoning our leaders one by one. Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha, who just returned from London, fears he will be next. They say Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi will soon follow. These actions aim to hinder the development of government schools in Delhi,” Kejriwal stated.

Kejriwal accused the BJP of orchestrating these arrests to stymie the Delhi government and challenged the ruling party to imprison all AAP members. Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi directly, he said, “Stop playing this jail game every day. I will be at the BJP headquarters on Sunday at 12 noon with AAP MPs, MLAs, and other senior leaders. Arrest us all then. The entire nation is witnessing the BJP’s conspiracy. They have already jailed Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain, Sanjay Singh, and now my PA.”

Kejriwal’s remarks highlight the escalating conflict between AAP and BJP, raising serious allegations of political vendetta and deliberate attempts to disrupt the governance and developmental projects in Delhi.

Atishi claimed that Maliwal’s accusations are part of a broader BJP strategy to undermine the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leadership. “Swati Maliwal is making false allegations at the behest of the BJP. This is a clear attempt to malign our leaders and disrupt the functioning of the Delhi government,” Atishi stated.
