Armenia’s Path to Peace and Progress: EU Announces Major Investment and Trade Support

Yerevan, Armenia: Armenia has taken another significant step toward strengthening its partnership with the European Union, receiving strong political and economic backing aimed at supporting the country’s democratic reforms, economic resilience, and long-term peace efforts.

During her visit to Yerevan, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen congratulated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Armenia’s democratic progress and reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to the country, stating:

“Armenia is carrying on the path of democracy, reform, peace, and of a closer partnership with Europe… You can count on us.”

As part of the strengthened partnership, the European Union announced additional economic support and measures to improve market access for Armenian businesses. The EU also reiterated its commitment to investing in transport, digital connectivity, and infrastructure projects designed to boost Armenia’s economy and regional cooperation.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan described the partnership as an important opportunity to deepen cooperation with Europe while continuing domestic reforms. The discussions also focused on expanding trade, improving connectivity, and enhancing Armenia’s resilience in a changing geopolitical environment.

The European Union further emphasized that its support extends beyond financial assistance and includes backing for democratic institutions, governance reforms, and initiatives that promote stability and sustainable development across the South Caucasus.

The announcement has been widely viewed as a positive milestone for Armenia, highlighting the country’s continued efforts to pursue democratic values, economic modernization, and stronger international partnerships.
