Hrithik Roshan’s Son Hrehaan Roshan Makes Music Debut With ‘This Heavenly Place’

Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan’s elder son Hrehaan Roshan has officially begun his journey as an independent musician with his debut English single, “This Heavenly Place.” Released on August 28, the song marks an important milestone for the 20-year-old singer-songwriter and guitarist, who has chosen to build his own identity in music rather than immediately following his father’s path into acting.

Known affectionately as “Ray” within his family, Hrehaan has taken on several creative responsibilities for his debut. He has written, composed and performed the song himself, while also playing the guitar. The track has been produced by Sudan, with musician Ankur Tewari credited for A&R.

Hrehaan’s Debut Is More Than Just a Star Kid Launch

While Hrehaan comes from one of Bollywood’s best-known families, his musical debut is notable because he has been developing his interest in music for several years.

Reports say that Hrehaan developed an interest in music during his teenage years and started learning guitar and writing songs at a young age. His passion eventually led him toward formal musical education. In December 2023, Sussanne Khan announced that Hrehaan had been accepted into Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he received a merit scholarship. He subsequently pursued an undergraduate degree in music there.

Sussanne had described the Berklee acceptance as a particularly emotional moment, recalling the years Hrehaan had spent pursuing his passion for music. Berklee itself celebrated his acceptance and compared his potential to that of singer-songwriter John Mayer.

What Is ‘This Heavenly Place’ About?

Hrehaan’s debut single is a 3-minute-36-second English track centred around young love. Rather than relying on a heavily produced sound or elaborate visual concept, the song takes a more personal and stripped-back approach.

The accompanying music video uses a grainy black-and-white aesthetic and an acoustic setup. Hrehaan is seen singing while playing guitar, with the minimal presentation keeping attention on his vocals, songwriting and musicianship.

That simplicity appears intentional. Instead of making the debut about his famous surname, the presentation allows audiences to experience Hrehaan primarily as a young musician.

A Musical Identity Influenced by India and the West

Hrehaan was born and raised in Mumbai, and reports describe his musical influences as a combination of Hindi film music, Western rock and alternative music. His debut therefore comes from a musical background that combines the soundscape he grew up around in India with the Western influences associated with his formal music education.

Interestingly, he has also chosen “hrehaan” as his stage name, using the name in a mononymous style. Reports connect this choice to his great-grandfather Roshan, the legendary music composer who was widely known professionally simply as “Roshan.”

Hrithik Roshan’s Emotional Message for His Son

Hrehaan’s debut received an immediate response from his father, actor Hrithik Roshan.

Hrithik shared a glimpse of the song and expressed his confidence in his son’s instincts, writing that Hrehaan was born with an innate wisdom and that he trusted it deeply. He described that trust as something that made him fearless.

The reaction was less about simply celebrating a celebrity child’s debut and more about Hrithik acknowledging Hrehaan’s ability to make his own creative decisions.

Sussanne Khan Calls It an Emotional Moment

Hrehaan’s mother, Sussanne Khan, also celebrated the release with an emotional message.

She shared her overwhelming happiness and love for her son, marking the release as a deeply personal milestone for the family. Her earlier support for Hrehaan’s music education at Berklee also shows that his musical journey has been developing for years rather than being a sudden career decision.

Saba Azad, Rakesh Roshan and Pashmina Join the Celebration

The support extended across the Roshan family.

Hrithik’s partner and singer-actor Saba Azad congratulated Hrehaan and praised the song. His grandfather, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, also publicly celebrated his grandson’s achievement and encouraged him to keep moving forward. Hrehaan’s cousin Pashmina Roshan also congratulated him.

Rakesh’s reaction carried additional significance because music has been an important part of the Roshan family history for generations. He described music as the “heartbeat” of the family and praised Hrehaan for writing, composing and singing his own material.

Hrehaan Continues a Long Roshan Family Music Legacy

Although Hrehaan is the son of one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, the family’s connection with music actually goes much further back.

His great-grandfather, Roshan Lal Nagrath, popularly known simply as Roshan, was a celebrated Hindi film composer. His grand-uncle Rajesh Roshan has also enjoyed a long career as a music composer in Hindi cinema. Rajesh Roshan notably composed the music for Hrithik Roshan’s acting debut, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai.

That makes Hrehaan’s decision to become a singer-songwriter particularly interesting. He is continuing the family’s musical tradition, but in a different format and on his own terms.

His First Step Is Already Getting Attention

The release of This Heavenly Place also marks Hrehaan’s public debut as a music artist on social media. Reports say the music video crossed 100,000 views on Instagram shortly after its release, while the song is available on major streaming platforms including Spotify, with the full video available on YouTube.

Rather than entering Bollywood immediately, Hrehaan appears to be establishing himself first as an independent musician, backed by formal music education and his own songwriting.

For now, This Heavenly Place represents the beginning rather than the culmination of his musical journey. With a Berklee background, guitar skills, songwriting experience and a family deeply connected to music and entertainment, Hrehaan Roshan has chosen a path that could eventually take him well beyond being known simply as Hrithik Roshan’s son.

His debut is, in many ways, the first opportunity for audiences to know “Hrehaan” as an artist in his own right.
