Copenhagen fashion week 2025

Copenhagen | August 2025 – Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW) has once again solidified its reputation as Europe’s most progressive and sustainability-focused fashion event. The SS26 season was a powerful showcase of cultural evolution and responsibility, featuring bold designer comebacks, Africa’s expanding influence on European runways, and artistic, avant-garde fashion.

A major highlight was the European debut of Nigerian label Iamisigo, a recipient of the Zalando Visionary Award. Designer Bubu Ogisi’s collection, which celebrated decolonial thought and traditional craftsmanship through performance-led fashion, was a significant step toward greater global inclusivity in European fashion.

Danish designer Anne Sofie Madsen made a surprise return, presenting an 18-look collection as part of the New Talent initiative. Known for her futuristic, handcrafted aesthetic, Madsen championed a more mindful approach to fashion, using upcycled materials and ethical production methods.

Henrik Vibskov also made a strong statement, with a runway show that blurred the lines between fashion and installation art. His sculptural silhouettes and experimental fabrics transformed clothing into wearable architecture.

The week also spotlighted a new generation of designers committed to innovation. Stem demonstrated live zero-waste weaving techniques on the runway, while Icelandic designer Sól Hansdóttir’s choreographed presentation, “Simulation Swan,” earned critical acclaim for its blend of Nordic folklore and sustainable artistry.

Sustainability remained at the core of CPHFW’s structure. All participating brands were required to meet strict environmental criteria, including ensuring at least 60% of their garments were made from certified or recycled fabrics. This commitment was led by established labels like Ganni, Baum und Pferdgarten, Marimekko, and Stine Goya, reinforcing Copenhagen’s status as the climate-conscious capital of fashion.

Emerging trends from SS26 included sheer suiting, a palette of olive and khaki, ruched detailing, and a revival of capri pants and sporty rugby stripes, hinting at a playful yet refined future for European fashion.

As the global spotlight increasingly turns to sustainability and representation, Copenhagen Fashion Week is proving to be more than just a regional event—it’s a cultural movement shaping the very future of fashion.
