Jind, Haryana – Jaihind Sena supremo Naveen Jaihind held a press conference last Friday, declaring his candidacy for the Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana as an independent candidate. Jaihind cited public demand as the driving force behind his decision.
For several months, Jaihind has been a vocal advocate for public issues, addressing concerns such as drinking water shortages, old age pensions, family IDs, and BPL cards. His consistent efforts have garnered significant support, with a recent survey showing that 86% of respondents encouraged him to enter politics to amplify the voice of the people.
In a show of support, independent MLA from Meham, Balraj Kundu, endorsed Jaihind on social media, praising his dedication to public struggles. Jaihind expressed gratitude to Kundu, emphasizing his determination to fight governmental challenges despite financial constraints. “We neither have money nor have we inherited anything. We definitely have the guts to fight the governments,” Jaihind stated.
Jaihind’s decision to contest comes amidst criticism from political figures. Ajay Chautala commented on Jaihind’s financial limitations, questioning his ability to compete in the elections. In response, Jaihind confidently challenged other capable candidates to enter the race.
Former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda suggested that Jaihind seek support from the JJP party. Jaihind, asserting his right as a citizen of Hooda’s constituency, called for clear support from Hooda and other leaders, including Kumari Selja, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Udaybhan, Abhay Singh Chautala, and independent MLA Sombir Sangwan.
Jaihind also addressed the issue of financial influence in the Rajya Sabha elections. He criticized the practice of large financial bids for seats, referencing Chaudhary Birendra Singh’s statement about a Rs 100 crore bid. Jaihind asserted that he does not have such financial resources but relies on public support and his record of resolving public issues.
Jaihind’s campaign highlights his grassroots efforts, including securing pensions for 2.5 lakh elderly, widows, and disabled individuals, advocating for the restoration of sports quotas, protecting Dalit homes from demolition, and supporting various worker and employee protests.
As the Rajya Sabha elections approach, Jaihind calls on the public and party workers to question their leaders about their support for his candidacy, emphasizing his dedication to public service and his commitment to fighting for the people’s rights.
