Najafgarh Desk, Delhi Magazine: The local residents of A and B blocks in Deenpur Extension Najafgarh are enduring a challenging and difficult life due to severe waterlogging and lack of basic amenities. According to the residents, the situation becomes especially dire during the rainy season when water accumulation makes it nearly impossible for the elderly, children, and women to leave their homes.
Rajesh (name changed), a colony resident, explains that the main road and inner roads of the colony were constructed three to four years ago. However, a significant flaw in their construction has resulted in the road height of E-block being higher than that of A and B blocks. Consequently, dirty water and sewer water from other colonies accumulate in front of the houses in A and B blocks, causing a health hazard due to the stinking and stagnant water.
“The roads were built, but the height discrepancy between blocks has turned our area into a cesspool during rains,” said Rajesh. “This has led to a severe health crisis in our community.”
Members of the Manas Khand Kalyan Samiti have repeatedly requested intervention from the local MLA and Municipal Councilor, but no solution has been provided.
“We have been pleading with the authorities for help, but our requests have fallen on deaf ears,” said an official from the Manas Khand Kalyan Samiti.
Adding to the woes of the residents, a woman from the colony pointed out that the Delhi Jal Board has not supplied water to A and B blocks for the last four months.
“We have been without water for four months, and no one seems to care. It’s as if we don’t exist,” she lamented.
The residents are calling for immediate action from the authorities to address the road construction issues, waterlogging, and water supply problems to improve their living conditions.
