Asia Desk, Male, Delhi Magazine – Chinese President Xi Jinping has reiterated his commitment to enhancing China-Maldives relations, emphasizing the importance of their bilateral strategic partnership. This message was conveyed to Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu on the occasion of his 46th birthday, according to a statement from the Male-based presidential office released on Saturday. Coincidentally, President Xi also celebrated his 71st birthday on the same day.
In a personal touch, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Wang Lixin paid a courtesy call on President Muizzu at his official residence, delivering a letter of congratulation from President Xi. Known for his pro-China stance, President Muizzu expressed his gratitude for the warm birthday wishes and the gesture of receiving the letter in person.
President Xi’s letter highlighted his enthusiasm for deepening the China-Maldives comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and building a shared future between the two nations. The statement from the presidential office indicated that discussions between President Muizzu and Ambassador Wang centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation and improving relations.
The talks also covered future agreements and upcoming collaborative initiatives aimed at development. Ambassador Wang affirmed China’s determination to assist in the Maldives’ economic development and sought insight into areas where the Maldivian government might require additional support.
