New Elected President, Maia Sandu in Moldova Demanded the Dissolution of Parliament

Sandu also said she would file a petition to the Constitutional Court to oppose the decision of the Moldovan parliament earlier that day through the withdrawal of the president’s control over the Information Administration and Security (ISS) and pass this authority to the legislature. Ms. Sandu explained that the ISS is the body that helps the president carry out her duties, while asserting her goal is to fight corruption.

On November 15, Ms. Maia Sandu – leader of the opposition Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) in Moldova, won the second round of the Moldovan presidential election. According to the Moldovan Central Election Commission (SIK), Ms. Sandu won 57.74% of the vote, compared with 42.26% of the vote in favor of incumbent President Igor Dodon. Expected, the Moldovan Constitutional Court will issue a decision recognizing this election result.
