International Desk, Delhi Magazine: At the end of the year 2021, Harnaz Kaur Sindhu illuminated the name of the country by winning the Miss Universe crown after 21 years, while in the beginning of the year 2022, Indian-origin Harpreet Chandi has also set a unique example. In fact, Captain Harpreet Chandi of the British Army has become the first woman of Indian origin to conquer the South Pole alone.
Harpreet Chandi, 32, is a physiotherapist and captain of the British Sikh Army. She traveled alone towards the South Pole in the month of November 2021. She completed this difficult journey without any help and created history.
Popularly known as ‘Polar Preet’, Harpreet gave this information on her live blog on the end of 40th day on Monday. Pull the sled with your kit after you’ve completed the 700-mile (1,127 kilometer) journey. Then announced this amidst the temperature below minus 50 degrees Celsius and the wind blowing at a speed of about 60 mph.
She wrote in her blog, “Day 40 – Ended… I’ve reached the South Pole, where it’s snowing a lot. Lots of emotions running through my mind right now. I don’t know anything about the polar world 3 years ago It was tough to get here. I want to thank everyone who supported me.”
She wrote, “This campaign was always more than me. I want to encourage people to push their limits and believe in themselves and I want you to be able to do it without wanting to be labeled. We were told ‘just do the normal thing’ on occasions, but we choose our normal selves.”
