Every part of human body is connected to each other; however, we tend to take care of the face regularly and often ignore the foot care.  Least do we know that dirty feet lead to pain the entire leg. There is always an uneasiness that one experiences and this due to dirty or incomplete care of the feet.

Observing the dryness in the feet and clenching of the ankles is the first sign that your feet require care. Therefore, problems like dryness in the feet, clenching of the ankles continue.When summer season arrives, the foot care must be done regularly. With increasing pollution, and the heat we tend to wear open shoes without socks. This leads to dryness and roughness due to sun and dust. The care of the skin of the feet is necessary as it requires nourishment more than our face does.

How to Clean Feet at Home?

Besides, dry and dirty feet cannot be hidden for long and you may not like wearing open shoes and fancy stilettos after a while. So let us know in what ways can we take care of our feet.

Removing cuticles

Clean your toes everyday while you take bath; however, a thorough cleaning must be done weekly. While cleaning, rubbing the cuticle oil on the nails and then soaking  your feet in lukewarm water for 10 minutes must be a ritual. This helps in removing the cuticles which is the dry and dead skin that accumulates near the foot nails. You easily do with a help of attachments that come in a nail cutter or can even buy a cuticle remover.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation removes frozen dead cells on the skin. This is a tested method to keep the feet clean and hydrated. You can make your own foot scrub at home. For this, mix honey, hot water and sugar in one bowl and massage it with light hands by applying it on the feet. After the exfoliation, you will find your feet soft and clean.

Apply moisturizer

Moisturizing the feet well before going to bed is something that allows you to have soft feet as well as a good night’s sleep. A little massage of the feet relaxes the nerve endings and your brain tends to feel calm. Make sure you massage the nails too and not just the heels. You may use coconut oil, butter based moisturizer or your regular body cream to moisturize the feet.  Soak your feet:  To get rid of the dry and damaged skin of the feet, soaking the feet means hydrating them. This will make your skin look fuller and clean at the same time. Keep your feet immersed in a tub filled with lukewarm water for some time. This will loosen dead cells on the skin and will also increase blood flow to the feet, which will prevent the skin from getting dry. To add to the goodness, you may add things like vinegar or lime juice to the water. Citric acid present in these removes odor from the feet. It is important that you do not use very hot water as that may lead to further drying up the feet.

Use Pumice stone

Pumice stone is a stone made of natural lava that removes dead cells of the skin. If there is a strong callus in the feet, then the pumice stone softens them. Rub the pumice stone gently on the dead cells of the callus or skin. Post this pat dry the feet and apply a moisturizer. If you are not going out, you may also wear a pair of socks for a while until the moisturizer is soaked well.

Items that soften the feet:

  1. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is also very beneficial for the feet. It helps in healing the scorched skin in the sun. Massage the feet for 5 minutes with a few drops of coconut oil before going to bed. This will make your feet soft.

  1. Aloe vera gel

This is a very effective remedy for softening dry skin. For this, cut aloe vera leaf and remove its gel. Massage it with light hands and leave it like this for 15 to 20 minutes. Then wash off with lukewarm water. This will add moisture to the feet and make the feet soft.

  1. Honey

The antioxidants in honey help in keeping moisture in the skin and hydrates the skin. Apply honey on your feet for 5 to 10 minutes. This will make your feet soft. Do this remedy 2-3 times a week.

  1. Use glycerin, rose water, lemon juice mixture in the following quantity: –

Using these three also helps to relieve the dryness of your hands and feet, for this you should take two spoons of glycerin, one teaspoon of lemon juice, and one teaspoon of rose water and mix it well, and before going to bed. Massage your hands and feet and leave it overnight. In the morning wash your hands and feet with cold water and you will be happy to see a massive difference in the skin.
