Biden Heads to NATO Summit in Lithuania to Shore up Support for Ukraine Against Russia

International Desk, Delhi Magazine: US President Joe Biden will travel next week to three countries in Europe , including Lithuania , for a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO ) summit focused on strengthening the international coalition that supports Ukraine in its counter-offensive against Russia.

Biden will leave on July 9 for London, England, and will head to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, to attend the NATO summit on July 11 and 12, according to a White House statement. On the last leg of his trip, in Helsinki, Biden will attend a summit between US and Nordic leaders on July 13.

Finland officially became a member of NATO in April. The country had applied for membership in February 2022, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine along with Sweden, but Stockholm is still awaiting the alliance’s endorsement.

Before his trip, the US president will receive the Swedish prime minister, Ulf Kristersson, at the White House on Wednesday, 5th, to discuss his country’s accession process to NATO.
