War Desk, Delhi Magazine: During a special operation in Ukraine, Russian airborne troops seized anti-tank systems, hand-held grenade launchers, and portable Western-made anti-aircraft missile systems in the Kiev region. This was announced during a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Igor Konashenkov.
“In the area of the settlement of Guta-Mezhigorskaya, Kyiv region, units of the Russian Airborne Forces captured a stronghold of nationalists and foreign mercenaries. Russian paratroopers seized 10 American-made Javelin anti-tank missile systems and a number of other types of weapons supplied by Western countries to Ukraine,” he said.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation in Ukraine in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

The head of state called the goal of the operation “the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.” The decision to conduct the operation was the reason for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.
